When you come in with your item there is no extra cost for fittings in the shop, for example with alterations or for garments made up from patterns. We offer special rates for customers with several items to be repaired or for trade customers. You can also come in for free advice if you want to repair your vintage yourself!

Refurbishing a 1940's coat:
This is a fab 40's coat that was sadly worse for wear when it came to me.

The lining and back of the coat around the neck had come apart at the seams, the shoulder pads had fallen loose inside, the lining had sagged so that it was visible below the hem, the cuffs were loose, a button was missing and there was a hole in the front about the size of a 5p coin.
Everything was sewn in back in place and a section from an inside seam was used to patch the hole which was then sewn in place with threads un-woven from the fabric of coat. Another way of fixing the hole would be to 'invisible mend' which involves un-weaving threads and then re-weaving the fabric. Replacement vintage 40's buttons were added.
Here is the finished result:
